Pottery has been part of my life for over 25 years. My primary interest is functional pottery although I do make some decorative pieces. My favorite things to make are large plates and platters. When creating them I imagine gatherings of friends and family enjoying dinner served with my pottery.
The carving technique I use, called Sgraffito, really makes me happy. I love the precise lines it creates because it makes my designs so vivid. Iām inspired by textures and patterns all around me. I am particularly drawn to Mandalas and Zentangles, as well as Native American and Polynesian symbols.
Before starting this business, I had a varied professional career while pottery was kept on the sidelines. I was a newspaper reporter, technical writer and editor, insurance agent, dog groomer and cake decorator. In between all that I had two beautiful daughters but clay was never far from my hands. Happily, I decided to start this business in 2017 and it has been a wonderful experience. I really enjoy going to art shows and talking with people about my designs.
